OK. So the XO of the USS John C. Stennis was fired for what Navy Times calls "personal misconduct." Let's read a little between the lines.
- He's an aviator, nuff said.
- They are on a cruise in the Pacific.
Worst case scenario would be him being caught with his pants down. Although they are in port in Singapore, which ain't quite the PI. Any guesses?
Its pretty bad whenever you open Navy Times and they are several articles on personnel misconduct. Though we do reflect society as a whole.

Your a bubblehead, nuff said.
Wasn't that spy John Walker a bubblehead too?
I would hope they taught the aviation community better grammar.
No.
Are you aware that slander is a UCMJ violation? Once we find you, we will report you and have the CO take care of you. You are speaking without knowing facts.
Isn't communicating threats also a UCMJ offense? Don't make threats like a coward with no name.
Ok hold on here. When i was in the Navy, the rank, crimes and dispositions of captains mast were published in the ships daily paper as well as the closed circuit tv onboard for all to see. What makes it any different not to publish the XO crimes for all to see? Heck, why didnt they have open mast for all to see, then the rumors wouldnt fly. Maybe the ex XO could make a public statement or apology to the crew about what he did (honor, courage, committment) To not, seems chickenshit. He was already found guilty at admirals mast,so whats to hide? especially after most people who go to captains mast see the XO first. Im sure the ex XO recommended more than one sailor be hung out to dry for the same thing he did.
As far as "Slander" and the UCMJ- it doesnt exist! there is article 88 that you wont make contemptuous remarks toward publicly elected officials. In order for Slander to be proved, it must be proved as such. At this point, there is no denial of sexual misconduct, even though Mast was already held.
Another interesting thing is the fact we have the bill of rights which every service member takes an oath to "support and defend". in this case "freedom of speech" - people talking about this case is not slander, nor illegal as we ALL(even those IN the military) have the right to the 1st amendment (even though the military commanders would like them not to be and try to scare them into thinking they have no rights)
Please keep talking about this case until the cowardly XO comes forward and explains his convictions publicly. It is your inalienable right to exercise them even if it offends others.
praise the lord, this country, and pass the ammo.
What really happened here?
@ "Are you aware that slander is a UCMJ violation?"
Seriously... chief.... calm down, you are never going to find anyone. As someone who was on the stennis, they have an unbelievably corrupt chain of command from the chiefs to the DIVOs to the PAs to the HODS to the the XO and as far as I know good ole Brad Johanson is under investigation as well. A fine example of the Navy's honor courage and commitment indeed. Joining the Navy was the best thing that happened to my life at that time. Leaving the Navy was the best thing that happened to my life to date.
Oh shut up!
I was on the Stennis for it's first Jabal Ali 6 pack and a few after that, good ship, good crew, at least about 1997-2001 time frame. Lots of people get busted, his number came up, what ever happened to "What happens at sea, stays at sea?"..."Our XO got busted" ok, have a laugh about it, complain about officers in general, and move on. sheeze.....
our ex xo was the best xo in the navy, yeah he got caught doing something, let a man who have not sin cast the 1st stone, you are no innocent then he. so do u think he was the only one doing something, no, he just got caught and from what i know, he's a great guy. we dont know what was going on in his life or any of the facts. so let it be.
"TRUTH"
I'm surpised by the accusations of adultry personally. he was my first CO in VFA-2, and a damn fine leader. he stood for his people. and was a very family orinated man.
He was a good XO and definitely cared about the sailors on this ship. He made a mistake and has accepted the consequences of his action. Let's give him the same chance he gave everyone else. He was always fair if nothing else and looked for every opportunity to give a sailor the benifit of the doubt. His good points greatly outweigh this event.
I would trade the new XO and bring the old one back. He was more laid back (no pun intended).
Kill the Dirt!
I was on board Stennis from 06-08 and will say that ship is by far the WORST command I've been to in my 8 years. XO before Burnham was sleeping with JO's, CMC was banging a second class in his stateroom underway and was kept under the rug by the CO because he had dirt on the XO. AWCM taken to Mast because he was banging his YN1 whom miraculously was an EP E-6 despite being in a division of 2 and holding no command collaterals (hmmm). He was found guilty as well and she was transferred. The ship has a history and I hope that CAPT Johansen is under investigation. Somehow an advancement exam never showed up, nor a late exam...requested mast and I'm still waiting almost two years later for my BCNR package to be approved by NAVPERS.
What happened to the Lt. he was with?
Anyone know Yeiser! She was on the Stennis...nuff said. Talk about a lack of leadership.
And now he's on the Bachelor!!
